Front wheel alignment angles (Hyundai Elantra XD)

Contents: Convergence ⇓ Collapse ⇓ Rear wheel alignment adjustment ⇓
Checking the front wheel alignment angles must be carried out on a stand, while the car must be in a horizontal position with the front wheels set for straight-ahead movement. First, make sure that the suspension and steering are in good condition and that the tires and wheels are free from defects.

Convergence

Toe-in is defined as the difference in…

Toe-in is defined as the difference in distances (B–A) between the front and rear sides of the wheel rims. Positive toe means the front wheels are closer together than the rear wheels, when measured at the wheel's midpoint height.

If the toe-in is not the required value, loosen the left and right tie rod end locknuts, then rotate the rods to set the required angles. Tighten the locknuts. Toe-in (B–A): 0±2 mm.

  • The toe-in adjustment should be done by rotating the left and right tie rod ends by the same angle.
  • When adjusting the toe, loosen the outer clamp securing the boot to prevent it from twisting.
  • After adjustment, tighten the locknuts of the tie rod ends and the clamps of the boot fastenings.
  • Adjust the toe-in so that the difference between the left and right sides does not differ by more than ±1 mm.

Tightening torque of the tie rod end lock nut: 50–60 N·m

Collapse

Camber is the angle of the wheel in relation to the road surface in the vertical plane. It can be positive if the wheels are tilted outward, or negative if the wheels are tilted inward. The camber angle is set during vehicle manufacturing and cannot be adjusted. Camber: 0°±30'.

Angle of longitudinal inclination of kingpin

The kingpin angle is set during vehicle…

The kingpin angle is set during vehicle manufacture and cannot be adjusted. If the kingpin caster angle does not meet the required values, replace bent or damaged parts. Kingpin longitudinal inclination angle: 2°49'±30.

1. Before checking and adjusting wheel alignment angles, the front suspension must be free of worn, loose or damaged parts.

2. Wheel alignment must be performed using special tool 09529–21000.

3. The camber and caster angles are set during vehicle manufacture and cannot be adjusted.

4. If the camber and caster angle of the kingpin do not correspond to the required values, replace the bent or damaged parts.

5. The difference in the deviation of the longitudinal inclination angle of the kingpin between the left and right sides of the vehicle must be no more than ±30'.

Rear wheel alignment adjustment

Rear wheel toe-in: 4 (3/ –1) mm.

Attention! Adjustment of the rear wheel toe is carried out by turning the connecting rod of the rear suspension transverse arm.

Left side: clockwise rotation –> positive convergence.

Right side: clockwise rotation –> negative convergence.

Change in toe-in when turning the connecting rod by one revolution: 0.6 mm (0.6°).

Warning: After adjusting the toe, tighten both nuts to the specified torque.

Tightening torque: 50–60 Nm.

Tightening torque: 50–60 Nm.
