Matrix — a subcompact five-door minivan (M-segment), produced from 2001 to 2010 by the Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai, which after the end of production was replaced by the Hyundai ix20 minivan. In some countries of the eastern region it was called Hyundai Lavita. Based on the same platform as the car "Hyundai Elantra" third generation and has a common mechanical part with a front engine and front-wheel drive. The design was developed by the Italian company "Pininfarina". Sales began in August 2001 and continued until the end of 2010. Assembly was carried out in South Korea, Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Malaysia. Over 200 thousand cars were sold in Europe during 9 years of production.

The body was only in the form of a five-door hatchback with a length of 4025 mm, a width of 1740 mm, a height of 1635 mm, a wheelbase of 2600 mm and a curb weight of 1370 kg. Petrol engines were installed four-cylinder 1.6 liters (1599 cm³, Beta, G4GR, I4, 103 hp) and 1.8 liters (1795 cm³, Beta, G4GB, I4, 122 hp). Since September 2001, diesel engines with a volume of 1.5 liters (1493 cm³, U-Line, 82/102/110 hp) began to be installed, both four-cylinder and three-cylinder. The gearbox was a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.

During the model's life, two updates were carried out - in 2005 and 2008. In the fall of 2005, an updated Matrix appeared with a new radiator grille, new rear lights, and the three-cylinder diesel was replaced by a four-cylinder with the same volume and increased power. At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008, the second update of the car was presented. The air intake, radiator grille and fog lights were changed, the outside rear-view mirrors were enlarged, new materials and colors were used inside. The basic configuration now includes six airbags and electronic stability control (ESP).
