Hyundai — South Korean financial and industrial group, founded in 1947 by industrialist Jung Joo-young as a construction company. The main office is located in Seoul. It is considered the third largest car manufacturer in the world after Toyota and Volkswagen. Translated into Russian, the word «hyundai» means «modernity».

In 1967, the Hyundai Motor Company was founded, which initially produced several models of Ford cars. In 1972, the company began producing its Hyundai Pony subcompact cars. By 1980, the company was producing about 50 thousand cars a year. The first full-size sedan Sonata, which is still in production today, appeared in 1985. Kia Motors was taken over in 1998.

The company currently produces about 5 million vehicles a year (cars, trucks and buses), has 5,000 branded showrooms around the world and employs 75,000 people.
