The Hyundai Getz car body was only in the form of a 3- or 5-door hatchback. The engine is located in front transversely with a drive to the front wheels. The transmission is 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The engine line is quite diverse. Gasoline engines are represented by five 4-cylinder in-line engines with a volume of 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 liters with a capacity of 62 to 105 hp. There are three diesel engines - one 3-cylinder in-line engine with a volume of 1.5 liters with a capacity of 79 hp and two 4-cylinder in-line engines with a volume of 1.5 liters with a capacity of 87 and 108 hp, all with turbocharging.
From 2008 to 2011, an electric version of the Getz was sold in New Zealand and Australia under the name Blade Electron. This model has a top speed of 120 km/h and a range of 120 km on a full charge.
In 2005, Getz underwent a facelift, which was shown in the fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The front and rear exterior, headlights and radiator grille were restyled, and the 1.5-liter diesel and 1.4-liter gasoline engines were also modified. The instrument panel and interior trim were also updated.
In the UK, trim levels were GSI, CDX and Sport, while in New Zealand they were XD and XE. In Australia, trim levels were XL, GL and FX. After the facelift, the XL and GL were dropped, with the FX replaced by the sporty SXi trim. The remaining models were called "Getz". In the first half of 2006, the SXi was dropped, leaving only the base trim with 1.4 or 1.6-litre engines. In early 2008, the Getz 1.4 was named S, while the 1.6 was named SX.
The top trim level included front and side airbags, ABS with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), central locking with remote notification, 14-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, air conditioning, electric mirrors, electric sunroof, electric front and rear windows, CD player and trip computer. Additional options included leather upholstery, metallic paint, satellite navigation, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TSC), hands-free phone system and MP3 player with USB connection.

In 2008, the Getz was rated for safety by the Australian company ANCAP, which gave it 4 out of 5 stars (score: 25.35 out of 37).
