Drain the working fluid and inspect if there are any signs of contamination. After the cause of contamination has been eliminated, refill with new fluid.
1. Remove the drain plug from the bottom of the differential housing.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Check: oil filter for clogging and damage. Replace if necessary.
4. Clean the interfaces at the drive axle housing and oil pan.
5. Install the oil pan with a new gasket and tighten the oil pan bolts to 10-12 Nm.
6. Tighten the drain plug to 30-35 Nm.
7. Fill with 4 liters of recommended automatic transmission fluid: Total required amount of fluid is 6.1 liters. However, only about 4.5 liters can be replaced during a change because there is usually some fluid left in the converter.
8. Start the engine and allow it to idle for at least 2 minutes. Then, with the parking brake applied, momentarily move the gear selector lever to each position - and set it eventually to the neutral position "N".
9. Add enough ATF to bring the level down: Check the fluid level again after reaching normal operating temperature. The fluid level must be between the upper and lower range marks "NOT" (hot). Install a level indicator to prevent dirt from entering the unit.
