Fuel tank, pipes and connections
1. Check fuel lines and connections for damage or leakage.
2. Check the surface of the fuel hoses for damage caused by heat and mechanical stress: Hard and brittle rubber, cracks, nicks, tears, cuts, abrasion marks and excessive swelling indicate deterioration of rubber properties.
? 3. Bosch woven rubber hose sheath shows signs of abrasion and cracking, hoses should be replaced.
Fuel filter
The fuel filter should be replaced regularly as its effectiveness with dirt and water build-up decreases over time. Replacement should be made as needed.
Release of crankcase gases (PCV valve)
The crankcase ventilation system must be kept in good working order to keep the engine running well.
Periodic maintenance is required to remove the PCV positive crankcase breather.
1. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the PCV valve. Then remove the PCV valve from the cap and connect it to the vent hose.
2. While the engine is idling, place your finger on the open end of the PCV valve to feel the vacuum in the intake manifold.
Note. At this time, the plunger inside the PCV valve should move back and forth.
3. If no vacuum is felt, replace the PCV valve and clean the vacuum line with a cleaner and replace if necessary.
Fuel vapor removal system
1. If the vaporized fuel vent line is clogged or damaged, vaporized fuel vapor will be released into the atmosphere, thereby increasing the amount of harmful substances from the vehicle in the atmosphere. Disconnect the pipeline from both sides and blow it with compressed air. Remove the filler cap and check that it is properly installed.
2. The operation of the overflow limiter must be checked (two-way valve), installed on the evaporator line between the non-return valve and the fuel tank opening.
Oxygen sensor replacement
(Except CONV.)
The oxygen sensor is a device that regulates the composition of the fuel mixture. If it is damaged, the efficiency of exhaust gas treatment as well as power is reduced. Therefore, it should be periodically replaced with a new one.
