1. Turn the steering wheel fully counterclockwise.
2. Support the engine oil pan with a piece of wood and raise the engine slightly.
3. Remove the left engine mount.
4. Remove the water pump pulley.
5. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
6. Remove the top casing of a gear belt.
7. Check the toothed belt for splits, damage or other defects. Be sure to carefully check the entire length of the belt.
8. Turn the engine crankshaft so that the number one piston is at TDC on the compression stroke. Align the mark on the crankshaft timing belt pulley with the pointer on the engine block. Check that the mark on the camshaft pulley is aligned with the pointer on the cylinder head cover.
9. Remove the bottom casing of a gear belt.
10. Loosen the bolts 1 and 2 fastening the tension mechanism in the sequence shown in the figure, while the spring of the toothed belt tension mechanism will open.
11. Check the location of the belt on the engine pulleys.
12. Tighten bolts 1 and 2 fastening the tension mechanism in the same order.
13. Turn the engine crankshaft clockwise one full turn and align the mark on the crankshaft timing belt pulley with the pointer on the engine block.
Warning! Do not turn the engine crankshaft counterclockwise.
14. Loosen bolts 1 and 2 of the toothed belt tensioner in the same order.
15. Re-tighten bolts 1 and 2 of the tensioner in the same order.
Tightening torque: 20-27 Nm
16. Recheck the toothed belt tension. When pressing on the tensioned branch of the toothed belt with a force of 49 N, the toothed belt should bend to the center of the head of the tensioner fastening bolt.
