2. Raise the car.

3. Remove the engine mount bracket.
4. Unscrew the bolt securing the water pump pulley and the bolt securing the generator to the tension bar.
5. Remove the water pump pulley, alternator drive belt, power steering pump pulley and drive belt.

6. Unscrew the upper side bolt securing the timing belt cover.
7. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

8. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and align the timing marks so that the piston in the first cylinder is located at top dead center at the end of the compression stroke.

Caution: Rotate the crankshaft clockwise only.
9. Loosen the tension roller mounting bolt by 1-2 turns, while the spring will increase the tension of the toothed belt.

10. Turn the crankshaft clockwise a full 2 teeth on the pulley.
11. First tighten the bolt on the spline side and second tighten the bolt on the tensioner pivot point side.
12. Turn the crankshaft pulley two turns clockwise to properly seat the timing belt on the pulleys.
13. Press the tension roller in the direction of the arrow and check the number of belt teeth engaging with the camshaft pulley in section "A".

14. Check the timing belt tension (1.3L engine).
15. When pressing the tension roller and the tensioned branch of the toothed belt with a force of 49 N, the toothed belt should bend to the center of the head of the tension roller mounting bolt.

15. Install the timing belt covers.
Tightening torque: 10–12 Nm.
16. Install the crankshaft pulley.
17. Install the water pump pulley.
18. Install the poly V-belt and adjust its tension.
