Gear lever positions
Warning! When engaging the reverse gear, after the car has come to a complete stop, hold the gear lever for at least 3 seconds in the neutral position. Then move the lever to the reverse gear position.
Warning! When shifting the lever from the 5th gear position to the 4th gear position, be careful not to shift into second gear by mistake. Such a sudden gear change can cause an excessive increase in the engine speed (tachometer needle in the red zone) and may damage the engine.
Clutch use
Before engaging a gear, fully depress the clutch pedal and then slowly release it. Pressing the clutch pedal again must be done only after it returns to its original position. Do not keep your foot on the clutch pedal while the vehicle is moving. This can lead to clutch disc wear. Do not use the clutch to hold the vehicle on a slope. To do this, use the parking brake. Avoid abrupt and repeated release of the clutch pedal.
Proper driving techniques
Do not roll downhill in neutral. It is very dangerous. Always keep the gear on.
Do not have a driving habit that requires you to brake hard and do not keep your left foot on the brake pedal all the time while driving. This leads to overheating of the brakes and loss of their efficiency. On long descents, engine braking should be applied to prevent overheating of the brakes (including low gears).
When shifting into a lower gear, slow down the vehicle slightly. This will help prevent excessive engine speed increase, which could damage the engine.
Reduce vehicle speed in strong crosswinds. This will improve its handling.
Make sure the vehicle is at a complete stop before engaging reverse gear. Otherwise, you may damage the gearbox. To move the lever to the reverse position, first depress the clutch pedal, move the lever to neutral, wait 3 seconds, and then move the lever to the reverse position.
Be especially careful when driving on slippery roads, when braking, accelerating and shifting gears. On slippery roads, a sudden change in vehicle speed can cause the vehicle to lose traction and control of the vehicle.
Warning! Loss of control of the vehicle at high speeds greatly increases the risk of the vehicle rolling over.
Warning! Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels go off the road and the driver tries to get the car back on the road.
Warning! If your vehicle has left the track, avoid turning the steering wheel sharply. Instead, slow down your vehicle before re-entering the road.
To remove the key from the ignition
1. Turn the ignition key to position "ACC" ("Optional equipment").
2. Simultaneously press and turn the ignition key counterclockwise from the "ACC" ("Optional equipment") into position "LOCK" ("blocking").
3. The ignition key can only be removed from the lock in the "LOCK" ("blocking").
Recommended shift speeds
For economical driving, it is recommended to change gears at the following speeds.
Broadcast | Recommended Speed |
1st to 2nd or 2nd to 1st | 20 km/h |
2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd | 40 km/h |
3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd | 55 km/h |
4th to 5th or 5th to 4th | 75 km/h |
