Manual transmission — checking the oil level (Hyundai Sonata Y3)

Check the components of the unit for leaks, check the oil level by removing the filler plug. If the oil is contaminated, it must be replaced with fresh oil.

1. After parking the vehicle on a horizontal surface, remove the filler plug and make sure that the oil level is at the level of the hole.

2. Check if the transmission oil is contaminated.

Transmission oil (replacement)



1. Place the vehicle on a horizontal surface, remove the magnetic plug and drain the transmission oil.

2. Replace the seal with a new one, put the magnetic plug back in place.

3. Fill with transmission oil (through the filler hole) until the oil level is level with the filler hole.

Transmission oil filling tanks:
  • 2.5L (SOHC engine)
  • 1.8L (TWC engine)
