The transmission oil level must be checked at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance chart in the Service Book.
Recommended gear oil type
For manual transmission use only HYUNDAI MTF 75W/90 OIL (HYUNDAI GENUINE PARTS MTF 75W/90) (API GL-4).
Oil volume for manual transmission
The volume of oil for a manual transmission is 2.15 liters.
Warning: It is best to check the oil level in the gearbox when the engine is cold. If the engine is hot, be very careful not to burn yourself on hot engine or exhaust system parts.
Checking the oil level in the crankcase of a manual transmission
Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
1. Using an appropriate wrench, loosen the fill plug by turning it counterclockwise and screw it all the way out with your fingers.
2. Check the oil level in the gearbox housing with your finger or a suitable tool. The oil level should be at the level of the lower edge of the filler plug hole. If the oil level is low, check for oil leaks before adding oil. When filling or adding oil to the gearbox, add it slowly to the required level. Do not add too much oil.
3. Install the plug, tighten it with your fingers, and then tighten it firmly with a wrench.
