Caution: Since the brakes are essential for safe vehicle operation, it is recommended that you have them checked by your authorized Hyundai dealer. Brake wear should be checked at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance chart in the Service Book.
Checking the brake fluid level
Warning: Be especially careful when handling brake fluid. It can cause vision damage if it gets into your eyes. It can also damage your car's paintwork if it is not washed off immediately after it gets on your car.
Recommended brake fluid
Use only brake fluid that meets DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications in your vehicle's brake system. Follow the directions on the container.

It is necessary to check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. The brake fluid level should be between the "MAX" ("Maximum") and "MIN" ("Minimum") marks on the reservoir. If the brake fluid level is near or below the "MSN" ("Minimum") mark on the reservoir, carefully add fluid to the "MAX" ("Maximum") mark. Do not add too much brake fluid.
Topping up brake fluid
Warning: Handle brake fluid with care as it is dangerous to the eyes and may damage the painted surfaces of your vehicle. Use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealed container. Do not leave the brake fluid reservoir cap open longer than necessary to prevent dirt from entering, which could damage the brake system and cause it to fail.
To add brake fluid:
- 1) If necessary, remove the air filter cover.
- 2) Remove dirt and unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap,
- 3) Slowly add the required amount of brake fluid. Do not add too much brake fluid.
- 4) Carefully install the cap on the tank and tighten it.
