1 - Unleaded gasoline: 1.0-1.1 mm
2 - Leaded gasoline: 0.7-0.8 mm
The spark plugs must be replaced at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance chart in the Service Book or if the engine operation requires it. Signs of bad spark plug performance include engine misfiring under load, poor fuel economy, poor acceleration, etc. Use only HYUNDAI approved spark plugs to replace spark plugs. Use of other spark plugs may result in poor engine performance, radio interference, or engine damage.
Note: When replacing spark plugs, use only original spark plugs. recommended by Hyundai.

Replacing spark plugs
It is recommended that spark plugs be replaced with a cold or cool engine. Replace spark plugs one at a time to avoid miswiring.
1. Remove the center cylinder head cover (only for the engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters.),
2. Using a clean cloth, remove dirt near the spark plug that may have entered the engine cylinder through the spark plug hole.
3. To disconnect the spark plug wire, pull the connector parallel to it. Do not pull on the spark plug wire as this may damage it.
Warning: It is recommended that spark plugs be changed when the engine is cold or cold. If the engine is hot, you can burn yourself on hot engine parts or spark plugs.
4. When unscrewing an old spark plug, be careful when putting the spark plug wrench on the spark plug so as not to damage the ceramic insulation.
5. To remove the spark plug, turn the spark plug handle counterclockwise.
6. When screwing in a new spark plug, be careful when putting the spark plug wrench on the spark plug so as not to damage the ceramic insulation.
Note: Spark plugs must be tightly tightened. Overtightening the spark plug can damage the threads in the aluminum cylinder head. Overtightening the spark plugs can cause the spark plug to overheat and possibly damage the engine.
7. Install the high voltage wire directly on the electrode. Make sure it is securely fixed and will not fall out.
