Park the vehicle on a level, level ground.
Press the brake pedal and move the automatic transmission selector lever sequentially through all positions (holding him in each of them for a few seconds) for oil filling (ATF) the entire automatic transmission hydraulic control system and automatic transmission torque converter, and then set the selector lever to the position «N».
Before removing the oil dipstick, clean the area around it of dirt. Remove the dipstick and check the condition of the oil in the gearbox (ATF).
Note. If oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission has a burnt smell, this is a sign of contamination with small particles of wear on the friction linings of the gearbox controls. In this case, the gearbox may need to be overhauled.
Normal oil level in automatic transmission (ATF) must be in the range «NOT» oil dipstick. If the level is below the specified level, top up with automatic transmission oil (ATF) to normal levels.
Oil for automatic transmissions (ATF): GENUINE HYUNDAI ATF SP-II M.
Note. If the oil level (ATF) in an automatic transmission is lower than normal, the oil pump will entrain the oil along with the air, which will lead to the formation of bubbles and foaming of the oil in the hydraulic system. This will reduce the operating pressure in the hydraulic control system, which in turn will lead to a delay when shifting gears (late gear shifting) and slipping of friction clutches or brakes. If the oil level (ATF) in the automatic transmission is more than normal, then due to the rotation of the gears of the planetary mechanisms, abundant foaming of the oil will occur (ATF), resulting in the same consequences as in the case of a low oil level (ATF) in automatic transmission. In both cases, air bubbles cause overheating, oil oxidation (ATF) and varnish deposits that damage valves, couplings and actuators. Foaming also causes oil to be thrown out (ATF) through the automatic transmission crankcase breather, which is mistaken for leaks.
Firmly insert the oil dipstick into the standard hole.
In the event of a major overhaul of an automatic transmission or vehicle operation in difficult road conditions, an automatic transmission oil change (ATF) and an oil filter is required. The procedure for changing the oil in the automatic transmission (ATF) described below. It must be remembered that only special oil filters are used in automatic transmissions.
