Drain the fluid and check for signs of contamination.
Top up with fresh fluid after eliminating the causes of contamination.
1. Remove the drain plug under the differential to allow fluid to drain.
2. Place a container under the transmission oil pan.
3. Unscrew the oil pan bolts and tilt it to allow fluid to drain, then remove the pan.
4. Check the oil filter for damage and blockage and replace if necessary.
5. Clean the drain plug and tighten it with a tightening torque of 30-35 Nm.
6. Clean the gasket-facing surfaces of the housing and oil pan.
7. Install the oil pan with a new gasket and tighten it with bolts to a tightening torque of 10-12 Nm.
8. Pour 4 liters of automatic transmission fluid into the housing through the dipstick hole (total amount of fluid required
is approximately * 5.8 liters. In reality, however, approximately 4.5 liters can be changed as the fluid remains in the torque converter).
* For vehicles equipped with twin cam engines: 6.1 liters.
Check the fluid level after normal operating temperature is established.
9. Start the engine and let it idle for at least two minutes. Then, with the handbrake on, quickly move the selector to all positions, ending with the neutral position «N».
10. Add enough fluid to bring the level to the bottom mark.
Check fluid level again after normal operating temperature is established. The fluid level must be between the upper and lower range marks «NOT» (hot). Insert the dipstick all the way to prevent dirt from entering the unit.
