Note: The idle speed is adjusted at the factory using the idle speed adjustment screw.
Check:
- that the spark plugs, injectors, and idle speed controller are in good working order;
- that the compression in the cylinders is within the required range.
Warm up the engine until the coolant reaches normal temperature.
Connect the tester to the diagnostic connector (16-pin).
Remove the plug from the base ignition timing adjustment connector.
Using a wire with an crocodile clip (1), connect the terminal of the connector (2) for adjusting the basic ignition timing angle to ground.

Start the engine and let it idle.
Check the crankshaft speed at idle. Nominal value 800±50 rpm.
If the idle speed differs from the nominal value, adjust it by turning the idle speed adjustment screw (SAS).
The original can be read on the resource (www.hyundaibook.ru)

If the idle speed is higher than the nominal speed even with the adjustment screw fully tightened, then check whether the paint on the throttle lever stop screw is damaged (i.e. was it adjusted before?). If the paint is damaged, adjust the position of the throttle lever stop screw.
Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
Disconnect the wire with the alligator clip from the ignition timing adjuster terminal and return the connector to its original position.
Start the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes. Check that the engine runs normally.
