Drive gear torque
1. Check the rotation torque of the drive gear by rotating it at a speed of 1 revolution in approximately 4-6 seconds. The control value is 0.6-1.3 Nm.
Note: The torque of the drive pinion is measured over the entire travel of the rack.
2. If the torque does not correspond to the specified limits, adjust the rack stop, then check the torque again.
3. If the required torque cannot be achieved by adjusting the rack stop, check the rack stop parts and replace them if necessary.
Moment of resistance to turning of steering rods
1. Turn the steering rod sharply several times.
2. Using a spring scale (B), measure the moment of resistance to turning of the steering rod (A). The reference value is 8-22 N (2-5 Nm).
3. If the obtained value exceeds the norm, replace the steering rod.
Checking the anthers
1. Check the anthers for damage and deterioration of the material properties.
2. Make sure that the anthers are installed correctly.
3. Replace damaged anthers with new ones.
