Checking the fluid level in the power steering reservoir (Hyundai Santa Fe CM)

The fluid level in the power steering fluid reservoir must be checked daily (Fig. 1.230).

During this check, the ignition switch must be in the "OFF" position. The power steering fluid level in the reservoir must be between the "MAX" and "MIN" marks on the reservoir.

Note. Immediately after starting the engine at very low temperatures (below -20°C), a crunching sound may sometimes be heard coming from the power steering pump. If the crunching sound disappears as the engine warms up, then the booster is working normally. This is due to the peculiarity of the properties of the fluid at very low temperatures.


Recommended Power Steering Fluid



Use fluid type PSF-3.

Note: Do not start the engine if the power steering fluid reservoir is empty.
