Battery electrolyte is a highly concentrated solution of sulfuric acid, which is extremely harmful and corrosive. Be careful not to let it come into contact with your eyes, skin, clothing, or painted surfaces of your vehicle.
When charging a battery from a charger or vehicle alternator, explosive gas is released. Take precautions to prevent possible injury (see below)
Charge the battery only in a well-ventilated area.
Do not allow open flames or smoking in this area.
Charge the battery out of reach of children.
Keep the battery clean. Any traces of corrosion around the battery terminals should be removed using a solution of baking soda and warm water. After the battery terminals are dry, lubricate them with a thin layer of grease.
