Fig. 1.218. Washer reservoir
The windshield washer uses water from the reservoir shown in Figure 1.218. To fill it, use good quality windshield washer fluid. If you use the washer more often, you should check the fluid level in the reservoir more often. The reservoir capacity is 4.6 liters.
Warning! Engine coolant must not be used in the washer system as it may damage the vehicle's paintwork. Do not overfill the washer reservoir or use the washer when there is no fluid in the reservoir. This may damage the washer pump.
Checking the fluid level in the automatic transmission
The automatic transmission fluid level must be checked at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance chart in the service book.
Note: Automatic transmission fluid is red. As the vehicle operates, the fluid will become dark red. This is normal and does not require fluid replacement.
Recommended Automatic Transmission Fluid
The automatic transmission of the Hyundai car is designed to use ATF SP-III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III or SK ATF SP-III fluid.

Fig. 1.219. Automatic transmission fluid level dipstick
Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. The automatic transmission fluid should be at normal operating temperature and the engine should be idling while checking the automatic transmission fluid level (Fig. 1.219).
With the engine idling, depress the brake pedal and move the selector lever from the "P" position to each of the following positions - "R", "N", "D" - in turn, and then return it to the "N" or "P" position. Leave the engine idling and perform the steps below.
Open the hood, being careful not to let your hands, long hair or clothing get caught in moving parts.
Remove the automatic transmission dipstick, wipe it dry, reinsert it all the way, and remove it again. Check the oil level on the dipstick. It should be in the "HOT" (Hot) range on the dipstick.
Fig. 1.220. Checking the automatic transmission fluid level
The ATF level should be in the "HOT" ("Hot") range (Fig. 1.220).
If the fluid level is low, add fluid to the "HOT" mark on the dipstick through the dipstick hole using a funnel. Do not overfill.
