Recommended brake fluid

Use only brake fluid that meets DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications in your vehicle's brake system.

As the brake pads wear out during vehicle operation, the brake fluid level in the reservoir will drop slightly. This is normal.

It is necessary to check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. The brake fluid level should be between the "MAX" ("Maximum") and "MIN" ("Minimum") marks on the reservoir. If the brake fluid level is near or below the "MIN" ("Minimum") mark on the reservoir, carefully add fluid up to the "MAX" ("Maximum") mark. Do not add too much brake fluid (Fig. 1.221).

Topping up brake fluid

When adding brake fluid, first remove any dirt and remove the brake fluid reservoir cap. Slowly add the required amount of brake fluid. Do not add too much brake fluid. Carefully install the cap on the reservoir and tighten it.
