Checking the brake fluid level (Hyundai Sonata EF)

0
1. Check the brake fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir. The level should be between the "MAX" and "MIN" marks.
  • Brake fluid type: DOT3 or DOT4

Note: As the brake linings wear, the brake fluid level will drop slightly, but this does not indicate a malfunction.

Attention:
  • If the brake fluid level drops noticeably over a short period of time, this indicates the presence of leaks in the brake system.
  • Brake fluid is toxic and corrosive.
  • Use only the specified brake fluid. In addition, the additives contained in different types of brake fluid may react chemically when mixed, so avoid mixing different types of brake fluid if possible.
  • Brake fluid is hygroscopic. Too much moisture in it has a negative effect on the brake system and reduces the efficiency of the brakes.

2. If the level is near the "MIN" mark, remove any dirt around the cap, remove the reservoir cap and carefully add brake fluid to the "MAX" mark. Install and tighten the reservoir cap securely.

Note: Do not fill the brake fluid reservoir above the "MAX" mark.
