The fluid level in the power steering reservoir must be checked daily. During this check, the ignition key is set to the "OFF" position. The fluid level in the power steering reservoir must be between the "MAX" ("Maximum") and "MIN" ("Minimum") marks on the reservoir.

Note. Immediately after starting the engine at very low temperatures (below -20°C), a crunching sound may sometimes be heard coming from the power steering pump. If the crunching sound disappears as the engine warms up, then the booster is working normally. This is due to the peculiarity of the properties of the fluid at very low temperatures.

Note: Do not start the engine if the power steering fluid reservoir is empty.

Power Steering Hydraulic Hoses

It is recommended to check the power steering hydraulic hose connections at intervals specified in the service book. If cracks, stretching or wear spots are detected, the power steering hydraulic hoses must be replaced. Poor technical condition of the hoses can lead to premature failure of the power steering.
