Checking drive belts (Mitsubishi Matrix)

The drive belt tension should be checked periodically and adjusted if necessary. The belt should also be checked for cracks, wear, fraying or other signs of aging and replaced if necessary. Also check the location of the belt: it should not touch any engine parts. After replacing the drive belt, the new belt should be re-adjusted after two or three weeks to eliminate any slack due to its stretching.
