
2. Clamp the tie rod end (A) in a vice and remove the ball joint protective boot (B).

3. Remove the boot clamp.

4. Remove the outer boot clamp (A).

5. Remove the boot.
Note: After removing the boot, check the rack for rust.
6. Disconnect the feed pipe from the steering gear housing.
7. Slowly moving the rack, drain the working fluid from the steering gear housing.
8. Knock off the retaining ring (A) securing the steering rod (B) to the rack (C).

9. Disconnect the steering rod (A) from the rack (B).

10. Loosen the lock nut (A).

11. Remove the lock nut (A), plug (B), spring (C), rack stop (D) and insert (E) from the steering gear.

12. Loosen the two mounting bolts (B) and remove the housing (A).

13. Remove the rack bushing and rack from the steering gear housing.
14. Remove the outer sealing ring (A) from the rack bushing (B).

15. Remove the inner sealing ring (A) from the rack bushing (B).

16. Remove the gear (A) from the housing (B) using a plastic hammer (C).

17. Using a special tool, remove the oil seal and ball bearing from the housing.
18. Remove the oil seal and O-ring from the steering gear housing.
19. Using a special tool (06573-21200, 09555-21000), remove the sealing cuff (A) from the steering gear housing.
