Removal
1. Place the vehicle on a lift and raise it.

10. Move the steering gear and remove it from the right side of the car.

Warning! Measure the preload at full rack travel.
2. If the preload is not within the required value, first adjust the tightening torque of the plug and recheck the preload of the gear.
3. If adjusting the plug tightening torque does not produce positive results, check or replace the plug components.
Steering traction resistance
1. Perform 10 steering rod deflections.
2. Use a dynamometer to measure the force required to move the steering rod.
Steering rod deflection force: 8-22 N

3. If the corrugated protective cover has defects, replace it.
Disassembly
1. Remove the tie rod end from the tie rod.
2. Secure the tie rod end in a vice and use a screwdriver blade to remove the protective cover from the tie rod end ball joint.

Note: When replacing the bellows, check the steering gear for rust.
6. Use a chisel to bend back the lock washer securing the steering rod to the toothed rack.
7. Unscrew the lock nut securing the plug.

10. Move the toothed rack completely to the transmission housing and secure the toothed rack in a vice with the jaws covered with soft material. Loosen the fastening and remove the steering rod from the steering gear.
11. Remove the toothed rack from the steering gear housing.
Attention! To avoid damaging the rack teeth, remove it from the left side.

4. Tighten the plug to a torque of 11 N·m, then unscrew it at an angle of 30-60°. Secure the plug in place with a lock nut.
Attention!
- 1. Adjust the position of the plug with the steering gear in neutral position.
- 2. Apply a layer of sealant between the lock nut and the steering gear housing.

Caution: A new clamp and clip must be used to attach the new corrugated protective cover.
7. Secure the tie rod end in a vice and install the protective boot onto the tie rod end ball joint.
