Removal
1. Remove the wheel with the tire.
2. Remove the connecting bolt.
3. Using a special tool (09568-31000) disconnect the steering rods from the steering knuckle arms.
4. Remove the rear roller stopper bracket, then remove the rear mounting bolts and loosen them halfway.

5. Remove the steering gear housing.
6. Slide the pinion and steering gear assembly and steering linkage to the right side of the vehicle and remove the assembly from the left side of the center member.
7. Check the components of the removed unit by cleaning the parts.
Checking the crankcase
Assembly
1. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.
2. Recommended lubricant applied to rack, pinion, bushing, bearing, needle bearing and moving surfaces of other parts - General-purpose grease SAE J310a, NLGI grade No.2 EP.
