Note: Before checking the idle speed, check the serviceability of the spark plugs, injectors, idle speed control valve, and compression in the engine cylinders.
Verification conditions:
- The coolant temperature should be between 80–85°C;
- Lighting, electric fan of the engine cooling system and all auxiliary equipment must be switched off;
- set the gear shift lever to neutral (on vehicles with automatic transmission, set the selector lever to the "P" or "N" position);
- set the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position (only for vehicles with power steering).
Connect a reference tachometer to the primary winding of the ignition coil (follow the instructions in the tachometer operating manual) or connect the HI-SCAN tool to the electrical connector of the data transmission line.
Start the engine and let it idle.
Increase the engine speed to 2000–3000 min⁻¹ for more than 5 s, then let the engine idle for 2 min.
Check the idle speed of the crankshaft using the tachometer
The original can be read on the resource (HYUNDAIBOOK)
The crankshaft speed at idle must correspond to the values given in Table 2.16 "Data for verification".
