Early model years
In these vehicles, the ignition coil is mounted in the distributor.
Place of installation of the ignition coil in the distributor
The resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil is measured on engines with a fuel injection device between terminals I and 2. Resistance of the primary winding: 0.9±1.2 Ohm; resistance of the secondary winding 20±29 kOhm.
In some vehicles, the resistance of the primary winding 1 of the ignition coil is measured between pins 3 and 2 of the connector, coil 2 between pins 3 and 1 of the connector. Coil 1 serves cylinders 1 and 4, and coil 2 serves cylinders 2 and 3.
Attention: The ignition coil is designed for a specific ignition system, and it can only be replaced with a coil of the same design and with the same index. Be careful.
Later models
When measuring the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil, measure the resistance value between terminals 11 and 12 of the ignition distributor connector.
Rated value 0.5-0.7 Ohm.
When measuring the secondary resistance of the ignition coil, measure the resistance between the high voltage terminal and terminals 11 and 12 of the connector. Rated value 21-30 kOhm.
