2. Connect the battery between the "S" terminal and the starter housing.

Note: The test must be performed within 10 seconds. If the test is performed longer, the traction relay winding may be damaged.
3. Connect the excitation winding wire to the "M" terminal. Make sure that the pinion moves forward. If the pinion does not move forward, replace the traction relay.
4. Disconnect the wire from the "M" terminal. Make sure that the drive gear remains in the extended position. If the gear returns to its original position, replace the relay.
