1. Clamp the starter in a vise and connect a fully charged battery.
2. Connect the ammeter as shown (with a measurement limit of 100 A) and rheostat.
3. Connect a voltmeter (with a measurement limit of 15 V) parallel to the starter.
4. Set the resistance of the rheostat to «0».
5. Connect a wire from the negative plug of joint stock bank to the case of a starter.
6. Using a rheostat, set the voltmeter to 11 V.
7. Make sure that the maximum current corresponds to the required value, and the starter armature rotates smoothly, without jamming. Maximum current: 60 A (1.4 l); 35 A (1.6 l). Speed: 5500 rpm (1.4 l); 4350 rpm (1.6l).
