2. Connect the ammeter (with a measurement limit of 100 A) and rheostat in the indicated manner.

3. Connect a voltmeter (with a measurement range of 15 V) in parallel with the starter.
4. Set the rheostat resistance to "0".
5. Connect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery to the starter housing.
6. Using a rheostat, set the voltmeter reading to 11 V.
7. Make sure that the maximum current corresponds to the required value and the starter armature rotates smoothly without jamming. Maximum current: 60 A (1.4 l); 35 A (1.6 l). Speed: 5500 rpm (1.4 l); 4350 rpm (1.6 l).
