1. Move the shift lever to each position and make sure the lever moves smoothly. Make sure that the lever positions are correctly fixed.
2. Make sure the shift lever can be moved to any position (by button operation, as shown in the figure).
3. Start the engine and check that the vehicle moves forward when the shift lever is moved from N to D and moves backward when it is shifted to R.
4. If the shift lever does not work, adjust the control cable and bushing. Check for wear on sliding parts.
