Steering gear pinion
1. Measure the resistance to rotation of the steering gear gear by rotating the gear at a rate of 1 revolution every 4-6 seconds. Nominal value: 0.6-1.3 Nm. This ensures correct adjustment of the pressure of the stop on the rack.

2. If the measured value is not within the nominal value, adjust it by tightening the rack stop plug and repeat the test. If the tension cannot be adjusted, check or replace the rack stop parts.
Tie rod end
3. Twist the tip several times.
4. Using a spring dynamometer (B), measure the torque of resistance to rotation of the inner joint of the steering rod end (A). Nominal value: 1.5-5.0 Nm.

5. If the measured value is greater than the nominal value, replace the tip.
Caution: If the measured value is less than 0.044 Nm, replace the tip.
Tie rod end joint
6. Rock the tip pin a few times to check for looseness.
7. Tighten the ball joint nut and measure the torque of the joint rotation. Nominal value: 0.5-2.5 Nm. If the measured value is greater than the nominal value, replace the tip.

8. Even if the measured value is less than the specified value, check the joint play and replace it if necessary.
