Steering gear
1. Scrolling the gear at a frequency of 1 revolution in 4-6 seconds, measure the resistance to rotation of the steering gear. Rated value: 0.6-1.3 Nm. This ensures the correct adjustment of the stop pressure on the rail.
2. If the measured value does not correspond to the nominal value, adjust it by tightening the rack stop plug and repeat the test again. If the tension cannot be adjusted, check or replace the rack stop parts.
Tie rod end
3. Rotate the tip several times.
4. Spring dynamometer (IN) measure the moment of resistance to rotation of the inner joint of the tie rod end of the tie rod (A). Rated value: 1.5-5.0 Nm.
5. If the measured value is greater than the nominal value, replace the tip.
Attention: if the measured value is less than 0.044 Nm, replace the tip.
Tie Rod End
6. Wiggle the tip finger several times to check for looseness.
7. Fit the ball stud nut of the handpiece and measure the moment of resistance to the rotation of the hinge. Rated value: 0.5-2.5 Nm. If the measured value is greater than the nominal value, replace the tip.
8. Even if the measured value is less than the specified value, check the hinge play and replace it if necessary.
