Order of execution
1. Check the belt tension by pressing on it with a force of 98 N (10 kg) at a location equidistant from the pulleys and measure the deflection of the belt. Belt deflection: 6–9 mm.
2. If the belt tension is not correct, adjust it as follows.
- 1) Loosen the power steering pump drive belt tension adjusting bolt.
- 2) Using a pry bar inserted between the bracket and the pump, adjust the belt tension so that the belt deflection is within acceptable limits.
- 3) Tighten the power steering pump drive belt tension bolt.
- 4) Check belt tension and re-adjust if necessary.
Warning! Turn the engine crankshaft and recheck the belt tension.
