Procedure

1. Check the belt tension by applying a force of 98 N (10 kg) to it at a point equidistant from the pulleys and measure the belt deflection. Belt deflection: 6–9 mm.

2. If the belt tension is not as required, adjust it as follows.
- 1) Loosen the power steering pump drive belt tension adjustment bolt.

- 2) Using a pry bar inserted between the bracket and the pump, adjust the belt tension so that the belt deflection is within acceptable limits.
- 3) Tighten the power steering pump drive belt tension adjustment bolt.
- 4) Check the belt tension and, if necessary, readjust.
Warning: Turn the engine crankshaft and recheck the belt tension.
