Checking the tension of the power steering pump drive belt (Hyundai Santa Fe CM)

Press the power steering pump drive V-belt with a force of 98 N at the point shown in Figure 5.7 and check that the belt deflection corresponds to the nominal value.

Belt deflection (nominal value):
  • during periodic inspection – 11.7–15.3 mm.

When adjusting:
  • new belt – 8.8–11.0 mm;
  • used belt – 12.5–14.3 mm.

Install the V-belt. Loosen the adjusting bolt and adjust the tension.

After this, tighten the bolt and flange nut to the rated torque (Fig. 5.8).

Note: When adjusting the V-belt tension, temporarily tighten the bolt and flange nut so that the pump pulley is not loose (so that the tensioner roller does not deviate to one side), then adjust the tension.




Caution! The belt deflection should be checked after turning the power steering pump pulley one or more revolutions in the normal direction of rotation.
