Checking the tension of the power steering pump drive belt (Hyundai Tucson JM)

1. Press the drive belt in the place shown in the figure with a force of 98 N (10 kg) and measure the deflection. Normal deflection of a new drive belt: 8.8-11.0 mm; old drive belt: 12.5-14.3 mm.



2. If the belt deflection is not within the norm, adjust the tension as follows:

1) Loosen the adjustment bolt (A) for the power steering pump drive belt tension.



2) Insert a suitable lever (A) between the bracket (B) and the oil pump (C) and turn the pump body to adjust the belt tension to the standard value.



3) Tighten the adjusting bolt;



4) Check the belt tension again and adjust if necessary.

Note: After the drive belt deflection reaches the normal value, rotate the oil pump pulley several times and check the deflection value again. Adjust if necessary.
