Checking the moment of resistance to rotation of the ball joint pins of the steering rod ends (Hyundai Tucson JM)

1. Using a special device (09568-34000) disconnect the steering rod (A) from the steering knuckle (B).



2. Make sure that there is no excessive play in the ball joint of the tie rod end by turning the joint several times by the pin in a circular motion.

3. Tighten the tie rod hinge pin mounting nut and check the torque of resistance to turning the hinge pin. The control value is 0.5-2.5 Nm.



4. If the turning resistance moment exceeds the specified upper limit, replace the tie rod end.

5. If the torque of the hinge pin rotation is less than the limit specified above, check the clearance in the hinge and replace it if necessary.
