Checking the power steering pump discharge pressure (Hyundai Tucson JM)

1. Disconnect the high pressure hose (A) from the pump (B). Connect the pressure tester to the pump and the high pressure hose as shown in the figure.

2. Bleed the system, then start the engine and warm up the working fluid to an operating temperature of approximately 50-60°C by turning the steering wheel several times.

3. Increase the crankshaft speed to 1000±100 rpm.

4. Close the pressure gauge valve and check that the liquid pressure complies with the specified limits.

  • L4 engines (2.0 l): 8.6-9.1 MPa;
  • V6 engine (2.7 l): 9.1-9.6 MPa.

V6 engine (2.7 l): 9.1-9.6 MPa.

5. If the pressure is not within the specified limits, repair the pump.

6. Remove the control devices, connect the high-pressure hose to the pump and tighten the fitting to a torque of 55-65 Nm.

7. Bleed the system.
