Removal
After unscrewing the forced ventilation hose of the engine, remove the air filter.
Disconnect the ignition wires and remove the ignition coils.
Remove the cylinder head cover.
After removing the water pump pulley and crankshaft pulley, remove the timing belt cover.
Move the timing belt tensioner roller towards the water pump and remove the timing belt.
Loosen the camshaft gear mounting bolts while holding the gears or camshafts from turning.

Remove the gears.
Remove the seals.
After removing the camshaft bearing caps, remove the camshaft rocker arms and hydraulic lifters.
Installation
The camshaft is installed in the reverse order, taking into account the following:
All removed elements must be installed in their original places.
Do not mix up the camshafts when installing.
The intake camshaft has a groove on the end, but the exhaust camshaft does not.

Note: The groove is designed to drive the camshaft position sensor.
When installing bearing caps, do not mix up the caps (install according to identification marks).

Note: The intake camshaft is marked L and the exhaust camshaft is marked R.
Check the ease of rotation of the camshafts.

Before installing rocker arms (rockers), check the roller (1) and the friction surface (2) for wear and damage. Replace the rocker arm if necessary.

Before tightening the camshaft bearing caps, orient the camshafts correctly - the dowel pins must be positioned vertically.

Tighten the camshaft bearing caps in the sequence shown in the figure, in 2-3 steps. Maximum tightening torque 25 Nm.
Camshaft Bearing Cap Tightening Sequence
Using a suitable piece of pipe or special tool, press the seals (1) into place.

Tighten the camshaft mounting bolts to 100 Nm.

Install the cylinder head cover and gasket. Coat the mating surfaces of the cylinder head (A) and gasket (B) with sealant before installation.

Tighten the cylinder head cover mounting bolts crosswise.

Check that the intake camshaft is positioned correctly - the alignment pin (A) should be on top.

Aligning the alignment marks (B) and (C) of the camshaft position sensor (crankshaft) shaft, install the sensor on the cylinder head.
Install the timing belt (see the relevant section).
Let the engine run and check for leaks.
