Checking the tension
Note: An "old belt" is one that has been running on the engine for more than 5 minutes.
1. Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg) to the center of the belt (A) between the compressor and crankshaft pulleys and check the drive belt deflection.
Belt deflection (tension):
- new belt - 3.3-3.7 mm (63±5N);
- used belt - 4.2-4.7 mm (36±5 N);
- after running-in - ≈8 mm (25-50 N).
Tension adjustment
Caution: The diesel engine compressor drive belt cannot be adjusted.
2. Loosen the tensioner screw (B).
3. Turn the adjusting screw (C) to adjust the belt tension, then tighten the tensioner screw.
4. Recheck the belt tension.
