On a vehicle with an automatic transmission, place the selector lever in the position «R» (Parking).
To start the engine, insert the ignition key into the lock and turn it to the «START» (Starter). Release the key as soon as the engine starts. Don't hold the key in position «START» more than 15 seconds.
Note: For safety reasons, starting the engine is disabled if the automatic transmission selector lever is not in the «R» or «N».
Ignition key positions
Warning: Do not stop the engine or remove the ignition key while the vehicle is moving. When the ignition key is removed, the steering wheel will lock.
Position «START» («Starter»)
In this position, the engine is started. The engine is turned by a starter during all time of deduction of a key in this position.
Note: Do not hold the key in the «START» more than 15 seconds.
Position «ON» («Ignition»)
In this position, the ignition is switched on and all auxiliary equipment can be switched on. When the engine is not running, do not leave the key in the «ON». This can lead to battery discharge and malfunction of the ignition system.
Position «ACC» («Auxiliary equipment»)
Pregnant «ACC» it is possible to turn on some types of electrical equipment (audio systems, etc.).
Position «LOCK» («blocking»)
In this position, the key is removed and inserted.
To protect the car from theft, the steering wheel is locked when the key is removed.
Note: To unlock the steering wheel, insert the key into the lock and turn it while turning the steering wheel slightly from side to side.
To remove the ignition key:
1. Turn the key to position «ACC».
2. While pressing the key, turn it counterclockwise from the position «ACC» into position «LOCK».
3. In position «LOCK» the key is removed.
