Use unleaded gasoline
Hyundai vehicles must use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 (by research method). The use of leaded gasoline will cause the catalytic converter to fail and the emission control systems to malfunction.

In addition, this will lead to increased vehicle maintenance costs. To prevent accidental filling with leaded gasoline, the Hyundai fuel filler neck has a reduced diameter, into which it is impossible to insert a fuel nozzle used for leaded gasoline.
Note:
- Hyundai vehicles supplied to some countries can be operated on leaded gasoline. If you intend to use leaded gasoline, check with your Hyundai dealer to see if your vehicle can use this type of fuel.
- Leaded gasoline must have the same octane rating as unleaded gasoline.
Diesel fuel
If both types of fuel are available, use summer or winter fuel accordingly at the following outside temperatures:
- Above -5°C: Summer diesel fuel
- Below -5°C: winter diesel fuel. Carefully monitor the fuel level in the tank: if the engine stops when the fuel is completely used up, you will need to bleed air from the entire fuel system to start the engine.
Caution: Do not allow gasoline or water to enter the fuel tank. In this case, it will be necessary to drain the fuel from the tank and blow out the lines to prevent the high-pressure fuel pump from seizing and damaging the engine.
Can I use benzol?
Your Hyundai engine can run on gasohol (a mixture of 90% unleaded gasoline and 10% ethanol or ethyl alcohol). However, if this causes deterioration in the vehicle's driving performance, it is recommended to use pure unleaded gasoline. It is prohibited to use fuel with a different alcohol content or fuel containing alcohols other than ethanol.
Do not use methanol
Use fuel containing methanol in your Hyundai (wood alcohol) is prohibited, as this will lead to a decrease in engine performance and damage to the fuel system components.
Caution: Damage to the fuel system or loss of engine performance caused by the use of methanol or methanol-containing fuels may void your Hyundai New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Eco-friendly grades of gasoline
To reduce air pollution, Hyundai recommends using gasoline grades with detergent additives that prevent the formation of deposits in the engine. This will reduce the amount of harmful emissions and improve the operation of the emission control system.
Operating a car in foreign countries
If you intend to use your Hyundai in another country:
- Complete all required vehicle registration and insurance procedures.
- Make sure that the required quality of fuel is available in this country.
