Before starting the engine (Hyundai Elantra XD)

Before starting the engine, do the following:

1. Walk around the vehicle to check for flat tires and to make sure there are no oil or coolant leaks or other signs of possible problems.

2. Once in the vehicle, make sure the parking brake is on.

3. Make sure that the glass and external lighting devices are clean.

4. Check that the interior and exterior rearview mirrors are clean and properly adjusted.

5. Make sure that the driver's seat, seatback and headrest are adjusted correctly.

6. Lock all doors.

7. Fasten your seat belt and make sure all passengers have their seat belts fastened.

8. Turn off all unnecessary lighting fixtures and auxiliary equipment.

9. With the ignition key in the "ON" position, make sure all the necessary warning lights come on and that there is sufficient fuel.

10. With the ignition key in the "ON" position, check that all indicator lights and lighting lamps are working properly.

Warning (diesel engine car): Before driving off after starting a cold engine in cold weather, it is necessary to let the engine idle for a few seconds to create sufficient vacuum in the brake booster.
