Use unleaded gasoline.

Hyundai vehicles must use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 RON (research method, "Normal") or higher. Use of leaded gasoline will cause failure of the catalytic converter of exhaust gases (EG) and malfunction of the toxicity reduction systems. It can also lead to increased maintenance costs for your vehicle. In order to exclude the possibility of refueling the vehicle with leaded fuel, the filler neck of the vehicle is designed so that only the reduced diameter fuel nozzle used for dispensing unleaded fuel can be inserted into it.
Note:
- In some countries, Hyundai vehicles are supplied with the ability to run on leaded fuel. If you are going to use leaded fuel, consult your authorized Hyundai dealer about the possibility of using leaded fuel in your vehicle.
- The octane number of unleaded and leaded gasoline is identical.
Use of diesel fuel
Hyundai vehicles require diesel fuel with a cetane number of 52-54. Due to the crystallization of paraffin, the viscosity of diesel fuel increases significantly as the temperature drops. Therefore, two types of diesel fuel are used: "summer" and "winter".
- At temperatures above -5°C, use "summer" diesel fuel.
- At temperatures below -5°C, use "winter" diesel fuel.
Monitor the fuel level in the tank: If the car stalls due to the loss of fuel supply, then to be able to start the engine again, it is necessary to remove air from the fuel supply system.
Attention:
- Do not allow gasoline or water to enter the fuel tank. If this happens, drain the gasoline or water from the tank and bleed the fuel supply system to avoid clogging the fuel injection pump and damaging the engine.
- In winter, to avoid problems associated with paraffin crystallization, when the air temperature drops below -10°C3, kerosene can be added to diesel fuel. The maximum concentration of kerosene in diesel fuel should not exceed 20%.
Is it possible to use gas oil?
Gasoil (a mixture of 90% unleaded gasoline and 10% ethanol or ethyl alcohol) can be used in your Hyundai. However, if a decrease in engine performance is observed, it is recommended to use 100% unleaded gasoline.

The use of fuels with inappropriate amounts of alcohol or alcohols other than ethanol is not permitted.
Do not use methanol
Fuels containing methanol (wood alcohol) are not approved for use in your Hyundai vehicle. These types of fuels may reduce engine performance and damage fuel system components.
Please note: The Hyundai New Vehicle Warranty does not cover fuel system damage or engine performance degradation caused by the use of methanol or fuels containing methanol.
Ecologically clean types of fuel
In the chain of less air pollution, Hyundai recommends the use of fuels containing cleaning additives that help prevent the formation of carbon deposits in the engine. Such fuels will contribute to more environmentally friendly engine operation and better performance of emission control systems.
Travelling abroad
If you are going to travel to another country in your Hyundai vehicle:
- Comply with all regulations regarding registration and insurance.
- Find out about the availability of the fuel you are using.
