Driver's airbag
Your Hyundai vehicle is equipped with a supplemental restraint system (airbags). The presence of this system is determined by the inscription "SRS AIR BAG", embossed on the decorative trim of the steering wheel hub and on the instrument panel on the passenger side above the glove compartment.
The Hyundai SRS system includes airbags located under the steering wheel hub trim and on the passenger side dashboard above the glove compartment. The SRS system provides protection for the driver and/or front passenger in the event of a sufficiently severe frontal impact, supplementing the effect of the seat belts.
Note: Be sure to read the SRS information on the labels located on the back of the sun visor and inside the glove compartment.
Warning:
- As its name suggests, the SRS supplemental restraint system is designed to work in conjunction with the driver and passenger three-point seat belts, but does not replace them. Therefore, in all cases, while driving, it is necessary to wear seat belts. In addition, airbags only deploy under certain conditions during a high-impact frontal impact that could cause serious injury to vehicle occupants.
- SRS airbags are designed to deploy only in the event of a frontal impact of sufficient force directed at an angle of less than 30° relative to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, but do not deploy in the event of a side impact, rear impact or rollover. In addition, airbags are disposable. Therefore, you should always wear your seat belts.

- Front airbags do not deploy in a side impact, rear impact or rollover. In addition, they do not operate in the event of a frontal impact whose force is below a certain activation threshold.
- The driver should adjust the seat position to be as far away from the steering wheel as possible while maintaining control of the vehicle. If you sit too close to the steering wheel, a deploying airbag could cause death or serious injury.
- There should be no objects on or near the airbag modules in the steering wheel or in the passenger side instrument panel above the glove compartment, as any such object could pose a hazard if the airbags were to deploy in a severe impact.
- Deployed airbags are replaced by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
- Do not perform any work on the system wiring or other components of the SRS system or disconnect them. This could result in injury if the airbags are accidentally deployed or if they become inoperative.
- Do not install a child restraint system in the front passenger seat. A child restraint system should never be placed in the front seat. An infant or young child could be seriously injured or killed if an airbag deploys in a crash.
- Do not transport children in the front passenger seat. In case of boarding a child (adolescence or older) in the front seat, always make sure that the seat belt is properly fastened and move the seat to the rearmost position.
- To ensure maximum protection in all types of accidents, all vehicle occupants, including the driver, should always wear seat belts, regardless of whether they have airbags, to minimize the risk of serious injury or death in an accident. Do not sit too close to the airbag or lean unnecessarily toward it while the vehicle is moving.
- To provide protection in the event of an accident, the SRS airbags inflate very quickly. If the driver or passenger is not wearing a seat belt and is not positioned correctly relative to the airbag, the airbag may strike the driver or passenger forcefully when deployed, causing serious or fatal injury.
Elements and functions of the SRS system

The SRS system includes the following elements:
- Driver airbag module
- Passenger airbag module
- SRS system warning light
- Electronic control unit of the SRS system
When the ignition is on, the electronic control unit constantly analyzes the state of all system elements and, in the event of a frontal or near-frontal impact of sufficient force, issues a command to fill the airbags.
The SRS indicator lamp in the instrument cluster flashes for 6 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the "On" position or after the engine is started, then it should go out.

The airbag modules are located in the steering wheel hub and in the instrument panel on the passenger side above the glove compartment.
As soon as the SRS electronic control unit detects a frontal impact of significant force, it sends a command to the airbags to deploy.
When the airbag is deployed, the seams of the module lining are torn by the pressure in the cushion, parts of the lining open and the cushion fills to its full volume.

In the event of an impact, the fully inflated airbag, together with a properly fastened seat belt, slows the forward movement of the driver and passenger's body, thereby reducing the risk of head and chest injuries.
Once filled to its full capacity, the airbag immediately begins to deflate, providing the driver with forward visibility.
Passenger airbag
Caution: If you have a container of liquid air freshener in your vehicle, do not place it near the instrument cluster or on the dashboard. Possible leakage of liquid air freshener from the container and its contact with the specified parts (instrument cluster, dashboard or air vent) may cause damage to them. If liquid air freshener gets into these areas, rinse it off immediately with water.
Passenger airbag
Warning:
- When the airbag is deployed, a loud bang is heard and a fine dust appears in the cabin. This is a normal phenomenon and does not pose a danger. However, dust released when the airbag deploys may cause skin irritation. After the airbags have deployed in an accident, wash your hands and face thoroughly with warm water and neutral soap.
- The airbags will deploy only when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position. If the air bag warning light does not come on or remains on after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position, or remains on and flashes for approximately 6 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position or after the engine is started, or comes on while the vehicle is being driven, have the SRS system inspected immediately by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
- Before replacing a blown fuse or disconnecting the battery, turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position or remove the key from the switch. Do not remove or replace the air bag circuit fuse or fuses with the ignition switch in the "ON" position. Failure to do so will result in the SRS warning light remaining on.
