Your Hyundai is equipped with driver and front passenger side airbags that provide protection for the driver and/or passenger in addition to the protection provided by the seat belts. Side airbags deploy only in certain types of side impacts, depending on the severity, angle, speed and location of the impact. Side airbags do not deploy in all types of side impacts.

Warning:
- Side airbags supplement the action of the driver and passenger seat belts, but do not replace them. Therefore, you should always wear your seat belts while driving. Airbags deploy only under certain conditions during a side impact that could cause serious injury to vehicle occupants.
- To ensure the best protection from side airbags and to prevent injury when they deploy, the driver and passenger must sit upright and wear seat belts correctly. The driver should keep his hands on the steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. The passenger's hands should rest on his lap.
- Do not put seat covers on the seats.
- Covers may interfere with the deployment of side airbags or reduce their effectiveness.
- Do not apply excessive force to the sides of the seats.
- Do not place any objects on the airbag or between the airbag and your body.
- Do not place any objects (umbrellas, bags, etc.) between the front door and the front seat. In the event of a side impact and deployment of the side airbag, these objects can turn into dangerous projectiles that cause injury.
- To prevent accidental deployment of the side airbag and possible injury, protect the side impact sensor from impact when the ignition is on.
