Your Hyundai vehicle is equipped with driver and front passenger side airbags that provide driver and/or passenger protection in addition to the seat belts. The side airbags will only deploy in certain types of side impact, depending on the severity, angle, speed and location of the impact. The side airbags do not deploy in all types of side impacts.
Warning:
- Side airbags supplement the action of the driver's and passenger's seat belts, but do not replace them. Therefore, you should always fasten your seat belts while driving. The airbags will only deploy under certain conditions at the time of a side impact that could cause serious injury to occupants.
- For the best protection from the side airbags and to prevent injury when they deploy, the driver and passenger should sit upright and with their seat belts properly fastened. The driver must keep his hands on the steering wheel in the «9 o'clock and 3 o'clock». The passenger's hands should be on their knees.
- Do not wear seat covers.
- Covers may interfere with the deployment of the side airbags or reduce their effectiveness.
- Do not apply excessive force to the side of the seats.
- Do not place any objects on the airbag or between the airbag and your body.
- Don't place any items (umbrellas, bags, etc.) between the front door and the front seat. In a side impact and side airbag deployment, these items can become dangerous projectiles that cause injury.
- To prevent accidental deployment of the side airbag and resulting injury, protect the side impact sensor with the ignition on.
