Maintenance of the optional SRS restraint system (Hyundai Elantra XD)

0
The SRS system is not serviceable. Maintenance of any of its elements by the car owner is prohibited. If the SRS malfunction indicator light does not come on or stays on, have your vehicle checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer immediately.

Any work on the SRS system, including removal, installation, repair, or any work on the steering wheel must be performed by qualified Hyundai technicians. Improper handling of the SRS system may result in serious injury.

Warning:

Warning:
  • Extremely dangerous! If there is a front passenger airbag, do not install a rear-facing child restraint system on the front passenger seat.
  • Unauthorized modifications to the SRS supplemental restraint system or its wiring, including the attachment of any labels or cards to the trim in the areas where the airbags are installed, as well as changes to the body structure, may adversely affect the performance of the SRS supplemental restraint system and cause injury.
  • Clean the airbag trims only with a soft, dry cloth or a cloth dampened with clean water. Solvents or detergents may damage the airbag linings and cause them to malfunction.
  • Do not place any objects on the airbag module covers in the steering wheel hub or in the passenger side instrument panel above the glove box, as they may cause injury if the airbags deploy in an accident.
  • Deployed airbags must be replaced by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
  • Do not touch or disconnect any electrical wiring or other components of the SRS supplemental restraint system. This could result in injury if the airbags deploy accidentally or cause the SRS system to malfunction.
  • Do not install a child restraint system in the front passenger seat.
  • A child restraint system should never be placed in the front seat. A baby or young child could be seriously injured if the airbags deploy.
  • When removing decommissioned airbag system components or scrapping a vehicle, certain precautions should be taken. These measures are known to the official Hyundai dealer, who will provide you with the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions may increase the risk of injury.
  • Before reselling your vehicle, be sure to inform the new owner of these important provisions and provide him with this Owner's Manual.
  • Do not start the engine if your vehicle has been flooded, the floor mats are wet, or the interior floor is covered with water. Have your vehicle towed to an authorized Hyundai dealer.
  • When replacing bumpers or bumper covers, use only genuine Hyundai parts. Using other parts may reduce the effectiveness of the SRS and cause unexpected injuries.
