1. Brake shoe support pin; 2. Gap adjuster; 3. Upper tension spring; 4. Adjustment lever; 5. Brake shoe; 6. Pressure spring; 7. Lower tension spring
Removal
1. Remove the rear wheel. Tightening torque of the nuts: 90-110 Nm.
2. Remove the brake drum.
3. Remove the pressure spring and support pins (1) of the shoes. Remove the upper return spring (2).

4. Lower the brake shoes (3) and remove the lower tension spring (4). Remove the clearance adjuster, being careful not to damage the wheel cylinder dust boots.

5. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake lever.
6. Remove the brake pads.
7. Disconnect the brake pipe (5) from the working cylinder (6). Unscrew the screws (7) and remove the wheel cylinder (6) from the brake shield (8).

Examination
Brake pads
8. Check for leaks from the wheel cylinder (9). Check the friction linings (10) of the shoes for cracks, scoring, excessive wear and traces of oil or brake fluid.

9. Check the thickness of the friction linings (C) (excluding the thickness of the pad). Nominal value: 3.9-4.5 mm. Minimum allowable value: 1.0 mm. If the measured value is less than the minimum allowable value, replace the brake pads as a set.
Brake drum
10. Using a caliper, measure the inner diameter of the brake drum. Nominal value: 203.2 mm. Maximum out-of-roundness: 0.06 mm. If the measured value is less than the nominal value, replace the brake drum.

11. Check the drum for mechanical damage and for traces of oil.

12. Check the fit of the brake shoe to the inner surface of the drum.
Installation
13. Apply sealant (11) to the mating surface of the wheel cylinder (12) to the brake shield (13). Install the wheel cylinder (13) and connect the brake pipe (14).
14. Connect the parking brake cable to the lever.

15. Clean the threaded (15) and working (16) parts of the clearance adjuster. Apply grease to the adjuster thread.
Note: To move the brake pads closer or further apart, turn the adjusting screw (17).

16. Hook the adjusting lever and install it on the brake shoe.
17. Install the clearance adjuster and the upper tension spring (18) in the correct direction. Install the lower tension spring (19).

18. Apply wheel cylinder grease to the sliding surfaces in the areas indicated. Do not apply grease to the friction linings of the shoes.
19. Apply wheel cylinder grease to the ends and rear surface of the pads at the indicated locations (pad contact points with the brake shield). Do not apply grease to the friction linings of the pads.

20. Install the shoes (20) on the brake shield. Install the shoe support pins (21) and the retaining spring.

21. Install the brake drum.
22. Bleed the brake hydraulic system and adjust the parking brake.
