1. Pedal assembly; 2. Bushing; 3. Spring washer; 4. Return spring; 5. Brake light switch; 6. Brake pedal; 7. Overlay
Removal
1. Remove the lower instrument panel trim.
2. Loosen the 2 upper (1) and 4 lower (2) pedal assembly nuts. Disconnect the brake light switch connector (3).
3. Remove the selector lever lock cable (4) (models with automatic transmission). Remove the cotter pin (5) and remove the hinge pin.
4 Completely unscrew the nuts and remove the pedal assembly.
Examination
5. Check the bushings for wear.
6. Check that the brake pedal lever is not deformed.
7. Connect an ohmmeter to the brake light switch connector. With the switch plunger depressed, check the switch circuit. If the circuit is open, the switch is OK.
Installation
Note: Apply grease to the surface of the hinge pin.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
