Remove the rear brake pressure regulator from the master cylinder.
Two pressure gauges are required to carry out the test. Connect the first pressure gauge to the regulator inlet and the second pressure gauge to the regulator outlet.
Note. After installing the pressure gauges, bleed the brake system.
Depress the brake pedal and measure the current pressure at the inlet and outlet of the proportional valve. If the pressure value corresponds to that shown in Figure 6.20, then the valve is in good condition.
Reconnect the brake pipes, bleed the brake system.
Pic. 6.20. Proportional valve characteristic
Note. The characteristic of the proportional valve is given for the case of increasing pressure (pic. 6.20).
Installing the rear brake pressure regulator
Pic. 6.21. Master brake cylinder
Establish the main brake cylinder as it is shown in drawing 6.21.
Tighten the brake pipe nuts and bleed the brake system.
Brake pipe nut tightening torque: 13–17 Nm, proportional valve nuts: 35–55 Nm.
